All you should do - is to create the card for the new word, writing the foreign word on one side and its translation on another side. Then you should have the cards with you and repeat it any time you have a free moment till the time you know it by heart. Some of my smart friends have really full boxes of those cards and they speak several foreign languages!
If you really want to remember the word - you should read it, write it and pronounce it. In this way you activate your visual, tactile and aural memories. We will not go deep into the science here. Only thing you should know is that this method works and you can learn 50 - 100 words every day.
